Katie graduated from an accredited Veterinary Technology School in 1997 with an AS Degree in Veterinary Technology. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician, with 6 years dedicated to Small Animal Neurology. She has also been able to work in other areas of medicine, such as Surgery, Internal Medicine/Oncology and Emergency. Katie is passionate about providing excellent patient care and her clinical interests are compassionate and intuitive nursing/critical care, all aspects of neurology/neurosurgery, and physical rehabilitation. Katie enjoys spending time with her 3 sons and 2 dogs – Frankie, a crazy Silky Terrier and a little Chihuahua. Her 10 year old Doberman Simone, who was diagnosed with the neurological disease Wobblers – an instability of the cervical spine that causes an unsteady gait and weakness in the legs – is retired at her father’s house. After undergoing surgery and treatment 2 years ago, Katie thought Simone’s best quality of life now would be where there are horses to bark at, sun to soak in, and plenty of room for her to roam. She also enjoys meditating, reading, nature walks, and volunteering her time and effort at a local non-profit group promoting meditation and personal growth. She enjoys being a part of such a compassionate, caring team. |

Kim joined The Sams Clinic in 2009. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician whose work has been primarily in general practice for the last 20 years. As a teenager, Kim started out as a volunteer kennel attendant at a clinic in Sonoma County. It was there that she realized her desire to learn all she could for our animal friends. Through the years Kim has continued her work in general practice eventually earning RVT status through the accredited Alternate Route Program at Santa Rosa Junior College.
Along with empathy and concern, Kim brings to The Sams Clinic devotion and respect for animals and people alike as well as the deep desire to continue to learn all she can in order to improve her patients quality of life. She is excited to be part of such an amazing team of animal health care providers.
Kim lives in Sonoma County with her husband Scott. They frequently foster abandoned critters eventually finding homes…..sometimes their own. Magi Mae and Bodi (pictured) were a litter of 9 pups that were abandoned in a small box 4 years ago. Also pictured is Katie, the lady of the house. Kim and Scott also live with 2 rescued cats, 2-Four (creatively named 17 years ago by a child for her 6 toes on each foot. 2+4=6). And their most recent feline rescue Captain Jack Sparrow.
In her spare time Kim enjoys hiking with her dogs, volunteering at a horse cutting ranch and driving her racecar at the Petaluma Speedway.
A lifelong animal lover, Jo abandoned her long and varied career in high tech and found her way to the veterinary field by way of animal sheltering, which included rewarding work in management and adoptions. She gained her nursing experience working in internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and holistic medicine: an interest she continues to pursue. Jo is thrilled to be working with the skilled staff and high standard of care at the Sams Clinic.
When not working at the hospital, Jo trains dogs and teaches people how to train their dogs. She has her own dog training business and volunteers and instructs at local animal shelters. An avid theatre-goer, she tries to fit in volunteering there too, and given a free moment outside of that, loves hiking the east bay hills with her dogs. Although British by birth, Jo now resides in Sonoma County where she is owned and trained by her two shelter mutts: a Flat-Coated Retriever mix named Shadow and an Australian German Shepherd called Bramley.
